Natural Crystal Salt vs. Table Salt

| by Maurita Elias, under Wellness

Like the ocean, the human body is made primarily of water and salt.  Natural crystal salt contains all the elements of which the human body is comprised.  If this is so, why do we hear that salt is bad for us and that we should limit our intake of salt?  A distinction needs to be made between natural crystal salt and what most of us know as common table salt, which no longer has anything in common with what originally came from nature.  Table salt found in grocery stores is mainly sodium chloride with all of the essential minerals and trace elements having been removed by chemical cleansing.  The result is a chemical substance with no nutritive value whatsoever.  “Our bodies require .007 ounces of salt each day, but despite ingesting much more than this of table salt on a regular basis, most of us suffer from a lack of salt”, says Dr. Barbara Hendel, author of Water & Salt, The Essence of Life

How can this be?  The body recognizes table salt as an aggressive cellular poison (an unnatural substance) and wants to eliminate it as quickly as possible in order to protect itself.  To do this, it isolates the sodium chloride with its cellular waters, which cause these cells to become dehydrated and die.  The result is that the body forms excess fluid in the body tissue because it needs 23 times the amount of its own cellular water to neutralize the salt.  This is why table salt makes you so thirsty.  The table salt poisons your system because your body can’t get rid of it.

Natural crystal salt, on the other hand, is crucial for maintaining all of the vital functions of our body.  It is natural crystal salt, containing all natural elements of the earth, that enables our brain processes to even function.  Only the naturally occurring calcium, potassium and magnesium found in crystal salt can be absorbed and used by the body.  We need this salt in its holistic form, with all the natural elements, in order for our bodies to function properly in the way it was designed.  So it really does matter what type of salt you consume.  One type is indispensable to our lives, while the other harms our health.
